The caption lists this building as 83 Southwood Lane, but the reverse of the print notes 80 and 82 Southwood Lane. An adjoining house to the right is clearly numbered 78. In the 1911 census, W F Lowe is listed as occupying 80 and 82 Southwood Lane. This building cannot be on the same site as the current 78-82 Southwood Lane, which in 1911 was the site of The Limes, a geriatric hospital built in 1815 and also used as a children's home. Neither can it be on the site of 83 Southwood Lane, which has been part of a Post Office sorting office since 1888. The census listing goes straight from Talbot Road to Southwood Lane with a stop at the Woodman Inn on Archway Road, which may suggest that this building was at the northern end of Southwood Lane, but no positive identification of its location can be made at this time.
