Description

Date accessioned: 9th June 1969. Although the pub name sign is unclear on this print, the publican's name 'G. Wicks' is visible. The 1899 Kelly's Directory for Middlesex shows George Wicks to be landlord of the Coach and Horses on London Road in Hounslow - not to be confused with the Coach and Horses on London Road in Isleworth. The building on the same site in 2013 is number 684 London Road, and it dates from the second half of the 20th century. Notes made on the print after accession in 1969 show the location as 'High Street'; this may be an error for the pub's original address, which - before 1878 - was High Road, Hounslow. It was associated with the Isleworth Brewery Company.
