Description

In the early 1820s, ‘Grove Hall Lunatic Asylum’ was established by Edward Byas at Grove Hall. By 1879 the establishment mainly housed ex-servicemen. It closed in 1905 and the site was purchased by the local authority in 1906. It was later redeveloped as the London transport bus depot at Bow and residential housing; a small part became a public park known as Grove Hall Park.
