This photograph forms part of a published extract including a letter relating to the site taken from Country Life magazine. The castle was sold in 1910 and the new owners removed the medieval chimneypieces for shipping to America. After the intervention of Lord Curzon of Kedleston they were returned and Tattershall Castle restored. A printed note below the photographic extract states that the fireplace was taken down on September 9th 1911.
This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
