The entrance gatepiers and projecting entrance porch between the Warden's House and the schoolroom attached to the Hungerford Almshouses on Pound Pill in Corsham. The carved arms of the Hungerford family are above the arched doorway.

Description

The almshouses, Warden's House and schoolroom were built in 1668 for Lady Margaret Hungerford of Corsham Court. The photograph was taken by the architect and architectural historian John Alfred Gotch (1852-1942), who had a special interest in Elizabethan and Jacobean architecture.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
