Description

The upper stages of the structure were added in the nineteenth century in a sympathetically-gothic style. The photographer's name is given on the reverse of the print as H Corder; it is unclear whether this refers to H C Arthur Corder, a photographer and postcard producer in Sussex in the early 20th century.

Archival History

The print appears to have been gifted to SPAB in 1943, and then accessioned into the collection of the NBR in 1959. This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
