Five gentleman standing and seated in front of the ornately carved screens passage in the Great Hall of Longleat House. The screens passage, designed by Andrew Gaunt, dates to around 1578 and is still in its original position.

Description

The photograph was taken by the architect and architectural historian John Alfred Gotch (1852-1942), who had a special interest in Elizabethan and Jacobean architecture.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
