Description

The present church was begun in the early twelfth century, with the exterior of the twelfth-century porch rebuilt in the fourteenth century. The Abbey was closed in 1539 under King Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries.

Archival History

Previously held in the collection of the Courtauld Institute. Courtauld Institute number B.445. This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.

The reverse of the card mount is stamped 'Not to be reproduced without permission'.
