Description

The tomb is sculpted from white Chilmark stone with Purbeck marble details, and takes the form of a small canopied structure, the sides of which comprise highly ornamented traceried arcades and sculpted reliefs in the spandrels above.

The Cathedral Church of St Mary at Salisbury was begun in 1220 and completed in 1266. The Cloisters and Chapter House were added between c.1270-1279.

This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
