Description

The tomb was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and sculpted by Thomas Nicholls. Bishop George Moberly became Bishop of Salisbury in 1869. He died in 1885 and his tomb was erected shortly afterwards. The Cathedral Church of St Mary at Salisbury was begun in 1220 and completed in 1266. The Cloisters and Chapter House were added between c.1270-1279.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project. One of a number of prints donated to the NBR by donor J L Lovibond on the 12th of August 1942.
