'Linen-fold' wood panelling in the attic of the former medieval Canonry known as Hungerford Chantry, at 56 The Close, Salisbury. The panelling also includes decorative medallions containing portraits of men and women, possibly clergy or nobles.

Description

This attic room may be in the left-hand half of the house, which was rebuilt in the 1720s when the house was divided and renamed Hemingsby House, 56A & 56B The Close. The original house dates to the early fourteenth century.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project.
