Description

George Edmund Street designed St John the Divine's Church in 1871 and the church was consecrated on 14th November 1874, after the completion of just the nave. After his death in 1881,building work continued under the guidance of his son Arthur Edmund Street, with the tower and spire being completed in 1888.

In addition to being the son of George Edmund Street, Arthur Street was also the father of the photographer, Philip E. W. Street. The print was housed in a box labelled 'G E Street buildings', alongside other photographs of sites with connections to the architect.
