On the back of the print the photographer has noted: 'Orpington. Nos 139 & 141 High Street (east side). "Orpington, Kent". "geo. Barnard delt. 1847" From a probably original print, in the possession of the late Mr W. Mansfield, from the drawing. From N. W'.

The timber framed building was demolished in October 1938.
