The photographer has noted on the back of the print: 'North Cray. Loring Hall. The dining room (old one). Old grate in the modern fireplace on the south side. It was formerly in the main staircase hall fireplace'.
Loring Hall, up until 1939, had been known as Woollet Hall but was renamed when it was purchased by Goldsmiths College and converted into halls of residence for male students. Later it was sold to BUPA, then to the charity Sargent Cancer Care for Children. Since 2004 it has been owned by Oakfield Care and is a facility providing care for those with learning disabilities.
