Temple Bar, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, originally stood at the point at which Strand meets Fleet Street, marking the entrance to the City of London. It was taken down in 1878 and removed to Theobalds Park where it served as the entrance to the estate. By 2004 it had been returned to the City of London and rebuilt at the entrance to Paternoster Square.
