Description

Underneath the image is written: 'General Plan of Wells Cath: with its appartenances from a drawing by E. Carter'.

The date that the plan was created is unknown but it is thought to show the area before the Great Hall of the Bishop's Palace was demolished in the early 19th century. The photograph of the plan is believed to have been taken in the second half of the 19th century.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
