Description

The strainer arches were added after the 14th century extension of the crossing tower resulted in a structure which was too heavy for the existing piers.

On the back of the postcard is noted: 'see also B36/1768 (Sumner)'.

OP26789 and OP26791 show the same image.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
