Description

The 'fruit stealers' capital in the north transept of the cathedral is decorated with four seperate scenes, forming a narrative frieze around the circumference of the pier. The first scene takes the form of two men out scrumping fruit and the second depicts the farmer being alerted to the theft. In the third carving the farmer is shown in the process of apprending the thief before, in the fourth and final scene, striking him with a pitchfork.
