Description

At the time this photograph was taken the George Hotel was owned by Woborn's Almshouse, as it had been since 1478. In 1920 the hotel was sold to a Salisbury brewing company and, in 1962, it was demolished as part of a road widening scheme.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
