Description

The George Hotel was located on the south side of Middle Street and, from 1478 until the early 20th century, it was owned by Woborn's Almshouse. In 1920 it was then sold to a Salisbury brewing company and, in 1962, was demolished as part of a road widening scheme.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.

The photograph was received by the National Buildings Record on 9th November 1942.
