Description

The church had fallen into disrepair by the 18th century and was considered for demolition in 1757. In 1862, however, as a result of the growing popularity of the town as a seaside resort, Arthur Blomfield began a lengthy renovation of the building. This photograph was taken after 1887-9 when the south aisle was extended and the chancel rebuilt.
