Description

The church had fallen into disrepair by the 18th century and was considered for demolition in 1757. In 1862, however, as a result of the growing popularity of the town as a seaside resort, Arthur Blomfield began a lengthy renovation of the building. This photograph was taken before the extension of the south aisle and the rebuilding of the chancel in 1887.

On the reverse of the mount for this image is part of the print OP27164 which shows St Peter and St Paul's Church at Wisbech in Cambridgeshire.
