Description

Visible on the north side of the Market House is a poster advertising a concert to be held in the 'mess tent' on Whit Monday 1878. This would suggest that the photograph was taken within a few months of this date.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.

The photograph was accessioned by the National Monuments Record on 12th February 1976.
