Description

Underneath the image, on the mount, the location is identified as Bishop Sparrow's House. The Sparrow family were owners of the Ancient House for over 200 years and were responsible for the addition of the pargetting in the 17th century.

Attached to the back of the mount for this print is OP27848 which shows the gate lodge at Hawley House in Dartford.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.

The photograph was transferred from the library of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1936.
