Description

The monument, erected in memory of William Wilberforce, is 102 feet tall. It was built by Myers & Wilson of Carr Lane and stood by Princes Dock, at the end of Whitefriargate, for a century before being moved to the Hull College forecourt, at the end of Queens Gardens in 1935.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.

The photograph was received by the National Building Record on 9th July 1942.
