Description

The stone cross shaft was discovered when the south porch of the church was demolished in 1872. It is made from magnesian limestone and is formed two joined blocks, with two carved panels on each of the four sides. It has now been placed inside St James' Church.

The print OP28985 shows the cross in the same position in the churchyard, but after the large tree in the background was cut down.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
