Description

The promenade was opened in 1893 to celebrate the marriage of the Duke of York, and, according to the University of Aberdeen who hold the negative for this image, the photograph is listed in George Washington Wilson's 1896 catalogue, giving the photograph a probable date of between 1893 and 1896.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
