Description

Steeton Hall was a manor house built for Sir Guy Fairfax c1474. The hall was partially demolished in the early 18th century, and the remains of the range incorporated into use as a farmhouse. In 1873 the remains of the chapel were also demolished. The print has a monogram and date in the bottom right hand corner, identifying the photographer as George Fowler Jones. There is also a stamp on the reverse with the monogram, and the words 'spectemur agendo'.
