Description

Noted on the back of the print is 'The Hove Town Hall is a fine building, & the history has a great interesting story & I am sure the Clerk would send you a book of same if you wish him & it use to contain the story of Hove St I am sending you of the smugglers'.

The town hall was opened on 13th December 1882. It was gutted by a fire on 9th January 1966 and later demolished.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.

The photograph was received by the National Buildings Record on 3rd November 1948.
