The Naval Prison was built in 1793 and was originally for civilian use but was taken over by the Navy during the Crimean War. It was demolished in 1963 as part of a road scheme and only parts of the walls remain.
This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
