Description

Noted on the back of the print is 'The Mint, Rye. The old window in center of the photogram was taken out cir. 1890 and a deal one substituted'.

Both the Swan and the Forresters Arms were closed around the start of the 20th century. W.W. Collett's spirit merchants and the Swan now form part of the Standard Inn, 41 and 43 High Street, whilst the Forresters Arms is now known as 44 and 44b High Street.

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-2012 Red Box Project.
