Description

The tower and west end of St Martin le Grand Church dates from the early 15th century, and incorporates an earlier 11th century church. The building was restored in the mid 19th century. The church was badly damaged by a bomb on 29th April 1942: a fire started by an incendiary bomb destroyed all but the south aisle. The nave, north side and east end were remodelled and reconstructed between 1961-1968. The remainder of the church has been converted into a garden.
