Description

The Horse and Jockey closed in 1958 and was demolished shortly after. The site is now occupied by modern shop units. This photograph was taken in October 1941, shortly after the height of Second World War Blitz. The windows of of number 44 High Street are taped to protect against flying glass during bombing raids.
