Description

The hall was built as a memorial to Prince Albert (d. 1861) after funds were raised by the congregation of the neighbouring Emmanuel Church. In 1863 it became home to Weston's first museum, established by William Mable a shoemaker who had moved to the town from London. Mable also established a night school to educate Weston's 'donkey boys' which initially operated from rooms in Carlton Street. The hall has been demolished.
