Description

The Clarendon Hotel (formerly The Star Inn) probably dated from the 15th century. The front of the building was reconstructed in 1783 and in 1863 it was renamed the Clarendon Hotel. In 1955/1956 it was demolished to make way for a new Woolworth's store on the site. It's likely this photograph was taken whilst the hotel was being taken down.
