The Battle of Barnet (1471) was a significant clash during the War of the Roses. As a result of this battle and the subsequent Battle of Tewkesbury, Edward IV secured the English throne for the Yorkists. The monument shown in this postcard was erected in 1740 by Sir Jeremy Sambroke. The card is postmarked 21st December 1906.
