Description

Bannerman Street was one of five streets on the site of the Edge Hill cricket ground which were named after Australian cricketers. The ground existed from 1847 until 1877, when the site was redeveloped. Of the five streets, only Bannerman Street and Spofforth Road remain in the 21st century. Charles Bannerman was the first player ever to score a test century, in 1877. A cropped version of this photograph was published on page 113 of 'Played in Liverpool' by Ray Physick.
