Description

Everton Football Club was founded as St Domingo's Football Club in 1878. The plaque commemorates the first game after the club changed its name to Everton. It reads: "Everton Football Club's first match was played against St. Peter's Church Football Club on 20th December 1879 in Stanley Park. Everton won on the day with a 6 - 0 victory." This photograph, with the background removed, was published on page 50 of 'Played In Liverpool' by Ray Physick.
