The Kop Stand is named after Spion Kop, a hill near Ladysmith, South Africa and the site of conflict in the South African, or Second Boer, War. The stand is seen here before it was rebuilt in 1994 following recommendations in the Taylor Report after the Hillsborough Stadium disaster. This photograph was published on page 59 of 'Played in Liverpool' by Ray Physick.
