The memorial is dedicated to those who lost their lives at the F.A. Cup Semi-Final at Hillsborough Stadium on 15th April 1989. It was originally located on Anfield Road to the west of the Anfield Road Stand. As part of redevelopment in 2016 the memorial was relocated in front of Main Stand.
