Description

The Austin Rawlinson Sports Centre is named after the champion swimmer who introduced backcrawl to Britain and Europe in 1915. He was the first British swimmer to win a National Championship using backcrawl in 1921. The centre was built in 1965 and has since been extended. This photograph was published on page 183 of 'Played in Liverpool' by Ray Physick.
