Description

The Northampton Institute, later the Northampton Polytechnic, was built in 1894-96. This entrance led to the swimming bath and gymnasium housed in a range on the north side of the complex. The baths were rebuilt in the mid-1950s after damage sustained in the Second World War. It was closed in 1995 and was later converted into a library for City, University of London, known as The Pool.
