Description

The Marshall Street Baths were built in 1928-31. The site has been used for baths since 1852. The entrance building, with Roman Renaissance facade, contained offices, a health clinic and slipper baths. Two swimming pools were built behind the entrance block, with a depot for Westminster's Highways Department beyond. The baths were closed in 1997 and reopened in 2010 after renovation and refurbishment, including converting the smaller pool into a gym and converting the entrance block into flats. This photograph was published on page 179 of 'Played in London' by Simon Inglis.
