Description

Purley Way Lido was opened in July 1935. The 200 ft pool was electrically heated and featured underwater lighting. The lido closed in 1979 and the site and buildings were later converted into a garden centre. The three stage concrete diving platform is one of only four surviving inter-war platforms in England, and is Grade II listed. This photograph was published on page 310 of 'Played in London' by Simon Inglis.
