Description

The sports ground was laid out from 1920 and from 1923 was known as the Midland Bank Sports Ground. The pavilion was built in around 1920 but, due to bomb damage, it was largely reconstructed after the Second World War. The Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank Sports Ground, to the north, was merged with the Midland Bank's ground in 1990 and later the whole ground became the HSBC Sports Ground.
