Description

The sports ground and pavilion were opened in July 1899. It was known as the Three Banks Sports Ground, after the London Joint Stock Bank, the National Provincial Bank of England and the Union & Smith's Bank joined together to buy the site. It was later under the control of National Provincial from 1924. In 2014, four former bank clubs remained: NatWest Cricket Club and Football Club, Royal Bank of Scotland Rugby Football Club, and RBS Bowls Club. This photograph was published on page 134 of 'Played in London' by Simon Inglis.
