Description

The Skaters' Pavilion was built in 1869. Following the death of 40 skaters in Regent's Park lake in 1867, a new skating rink was also created: the adjacent Royal Toxophilite Society's (RTS) archery lawns were levelled and could then be flooded during freezing weather. The lawns and pavilion were converted for tennis after the RTS moved from Regent's Park in 1924.
