Description

The club was founded in 1866 by John MacGregor. It was named the Royal Canoe Club from 1873. The club has two boat houses: the mainland boat house on Trowlock Way (built in around 1901), and a building on Trowlock Island (shown in this photograph). The Trowlock Island boat house was built in 1897 and was rebuilt in 2009. This photograph was published on page 60 of 'Played in London' by Simon Inglis.
