Description

Tom Cribb (1781-1848) was a champion bare-knuckle boxer, and later a coal merchant and publican. He was landlord of the Union Arms on Panton Street from 1825 until 1834. The pub has borne his name since 1960, and the plaque was unveiled in 2005. This photograph, with the background removed, was published on page 19 of 'Played in London' by Simon Inglis.
