Description

Castle Irwell was the site of the Manchester Racecourse in the mid 19th century and again from 1902-1963. The University of Salford purchased the majority of the site in 1973, and it became a student village. In 2015 the area was redeveloped as a flood basin and nature reserve, with housing on the section between Littleton Road and Cromwell Road.
